I am originally from sun shiny southern California! I found my mommy (Tif) while lounging on a side walk. She was exiting a friend's house and startled me by dropping her keys. I looked up, thought she seemed nice and decided to make my introductions. She sat there talking to me and while she was petting me, a thought came to mind that I should not let this person go. So as my future mommy got up to leave, I followed her to her car. She petted me again, thinking I would go away (as if) and proceeded to get into the car. I saw my moment (for I am a smart cat) and jumped into her vehicle, onto her lap. She was startled, tried to get me out of the car (yeah right), but after a few moments, she relented and took me home.
Although my new mommy made efforts to find my previous owners, I knew she would not be successful. For as long as I could remember, my only home was the streets. As she made flyers and called local animal shelters, I made myself at home. I decided to re-arrange some items in her apartment (that didn't go over so well) and got used to my new life as a house cat. As the days passed, she realized that she needn't look for my home, that my home was with her and that's when I received my name, Pooka.
In 2005, we moved back to my mommy's home state, New Hampshire and I really like it here. I get to watch the leaves outside my windows change color in the fall and watch as the winter snow transforms the landscape into a glittery white oasis. I am a very lucky cat for I am loved greatly and I look forward to spending more time with my mommy and her husband, my new daddy, Mike.
